Columbus Academy seeks an outstanding and collaborative part-time string teacher to join a growing and well-established orchestra program serving students in grades 3–12. The string program is an important part of the school’s performing arts offerings and emphasizes strong technical foundations, musical independence, and meaningful ensemble experiences for student musicians.
Working closely with the Director of Orchestras and performing arts faculty, successful candidates will teach group string classes, lead ensemble sectionals, and contribute to curriculum development, student assessment, and the continued expansion of chamber music opportunities for students. Additional responsibilities may include rehearsal leadership and occasional conducting.
Primary Responsibilities
Teach group string classes across multiple grade levels as assigned
Lead sectional rehearsals for orchestra ensembles
Support the development and implementation of curriculum aligned with program goals
Assist with the design, administration, and evaluation of student assessments
Contribute to the development of a chamber music program for student musicians
Maintain a structured and positive classroom environment through strong classroom management practices
Collaborate with performing arts faculty on concerts, rehearsals, and program initiatives
Assist with rehearsal leadership and conducting when appropriate
Participate in performances, rehearsals, and occasional program events

Requirements
Master’s degree in Music Education or a related field
Experience teaching string instruments in a school setting
Strong knowledge of string pedagogy and curriculum development
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff
Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
