Reports To: Gary Murphy, Director of Facilities and Operations
Work Schedule: 7:00a-3:30p Monday-Friday Full-Time, Hourly
Position Summary
The Groundskeeper II responsibilities include providing landscaping assistance to the team that sustains the grounds of Heathwood Hall. Groundskeeper work includes exercising proper safety procedures while working in outdoor elements during periods of temperature extremes (seasonal weather shifts). The primary focus of the groundskeeper is maintaining the aesthetics of the 122+ acres of Heathwood's campus.
Essential Functions
- Maintain the outdoor areas of the school campus
- Scheduled mowing and edging of lawns
- Trimming of hedges, planting flowers and plants, weeding, seeding, applying fertilizers and managing irrigation systems
- Debris removal
- Seasonal maintenance of greenery
- Pest control measures including application of pesticides and herbicides as needed
- Minor repairs of fences, walkways, and other outdoor structures
- Proactive attention to various outdoor areas used by children for opportunities to improve safety or upkeep of heavy traffic areas
- Maintenance team support in response to various campus work orders
- Various other Facilities assignments as needed
Specific Job Skills
- Advanced knowledge of equipment safety
- Advanced knowledge of safe use of mowers, trimmers, blowers and other work related tools and equipment
Education and Experience
- Experience in groundskeeping or a similar position preferred
- Two year degree in horticulture or similar field, preferred
Working Conditions
- Expansive school campus with 122+ acres, must be able to travel between areas

- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures
