As a full-time ELL & Humanities educator at Sage, you will engage gifted learners in a dual-role position that combines teaching core humanities courses with specialized support for a small cohort of English Language Learners (ELL) who are appropriate to our mission of serving gifted and advanced learners. This position allows you to provide advanced instruction to students assessed as gifted while also ensuring multilingual learners have equitable access to rigorous humanities content, particularly in complex writing, critical thinking, and analytical tasks.
In the Upper School (Grades 5–8), students explore the interconnectedness of the world through in-depth study of historical events, cultural analysis, literature, civics, and language arts. Through interactive discussions, Socratic seminars, research projects, and interdisciplinary learning experiences, students develop advanced critical thinking, analytical writing, and global awareness.
As the ELL specialist within the Humanities program, you will collaborate with colleagues to scaffold complex texts, vocabulary, research skills and writing to differentiate instruction for gifted and talented multilingual learners to access advanced content while developing academic English proficiency. Within Sage’s Humanities program, students are challenged to pursue independent inquiry, take intellectual risks, and develop a deep understanding of global perspectives, with instruction tailored to meet both content mastery and language development needs. Additionally, you may serve as an Upper School Advisor, providing consistent mentorship and support to foster students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.
Guided by our mission, we encourage our diverse community of gifted students to engage in academic challenges, nurture their love of learning, and cultivate their humanity so they can serve.
