Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School is seeking a full-time grammar school music teacher to teach a combination of general music classes and grammar school chorus.
Responsibilities include:
Teaching the Grammar School General Music curriculum as assigned to students in Grades PK-5
Conducting the Grammar School Chorus classes
Participating in the planning and facilitation of concerts, music festivals, and in-school performances
Participating in faculty meetings, grade-level meetings and department meetings with music department colleagues
Music Director of the annual grammar school musical
Qualifications for the position include:
Bachelor’s degree in music education (masters preferred)
At least three years of experience teaching music in a classroom setting
Certification in at least one prominent music education pedagogical system/philosophy (e.g. Kodaly, Orff, MLT, Dalcroze, etc.)
Piano proficiency
Knowledge and understanding of voice pedagogy
Strong personal musicianship skills
Able to develop and adapt pedagogy, curriculum, and assessments for students with a range of skill levels and learning styles
Dynamic, creative, and growth-oriented
Excellent collaboration and communication skills
