Description

We are seeking a Middle School Student Services Counselor who will work with students, parents, and faculty to support each student’s overall success and will serve as a clearinghouse for all student concerns that intrude on learning.

We are looking to hire a Student Services Counselor who builds meaningful relationships with students and families and is passionate about student development.


Professional Qualifications:

The most desirable candidates will have the following background or comparable experience:

  • Master's Degree required and 5 years of experience in a similar position
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to prioritize and work independently, and address several challenges simultaneously
  • Possession of a pleasant and collaborative style in the workplace, including a professional attitude
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment
  • Well-versed in technology, various software suites and office equipment related to the position
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information


Essential Functions:

  • Teaches in-class guidance classes for grades 6, 7, and 8
  • Provides individual and group counseling for grades 6, 7, and 8
  • Attends Grade Level Meetings 6, 7, 8: helps create and oversee follow-up plans
  • Schedules and/or attends parent/teacher conferences involving Student Services, documents meetings, and assists with follow-up
  • Assists with relevant grade-level community services projects for grades 6, 7, 8, and maintains records of all MS students’ individual community service hours
  • Assists with organizing and attending parenting workshops
  • Attends Educational Planning meetings and monitors resulting accommodations and strategies for grades 6, 7, and 8

Requirements

  • Master's Degree required
  • 5 years of experience in a similar position
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Possession of a pleasant and collaborative style in the workplace
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information
