The Middle School English Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality English instruction for students in Grades 5–8. The teacher will engage students in developing critical thinking skills, foster a passion for literature, refine effective writing skills, and prepare students for academic success in Middle School English courses. The role involves designing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
Responsibilities include:
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the school’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
Implement relevant and authentic pedagogical strategies, while being mindful of diverse learning styles. Appropriately incorporate technology to enhance student learning.
Keep abreast of current educational research, trends, and best practices to facilitate and guide goal setting, reflection, and professional development.
Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
Provide formative and summative assessments, offering clear and personalized feedback to support student progress.
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and is appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students.
Manage student behavior in accordance with student handbook.
Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, administration, and teachers.
Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents and community members.
Engage actively with the Oakridge community by participating in events, providing support to students, and promoting the school positively in all communications.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or related field.
Valid teaching certification.
Experience in teaching English to students in Grades 5–8.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.
