The Whitfield School, an innovative educational institution for students in grades 6-12, announces an opening for an Upper School Mathematics teacher.

We are seeking individuals who actively engage with - and learn from - colleagues on a daily basis, are energized by the opportunity to co-create an equitable and inclusive environment for a diverse student body, and consistently apply research-based best practices in their classrooms.

This position will begin in August 2026.

Whitfield’s Math Department fosters curiosity, passion, and resilience through interactive and purposeful learning experiences.

Students develop an appreciation of mathematics through problem-solving, case study analysis, and hands-on projects under the guidance of teachers that blend warmth and rigor.

The Math department strives to provide students with the tools they need to become confident, collaborative, curious learners and mathematicians.

Typical responsibilities include the following:

  • Teach a full load of High School Mathematics courses. Specific courses to be determined based on experience and expertise of candidates
  • Advise students as part of the Upper School Advisory Program
  • Meet with students during “Academic Lab” time to provide additional support, individualized feedback, and opportunities for extension
  • Serve as an advisor to student-led clubs and activities
  • Work with departmental peers to collaborate on curricular design and experiential learning experiences
  • Collaborate with grade level team to foster a community of kindness, trust, and belonging
  • Work professionally and cooperatively within the department, the School, and the broader Whitfield community

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Math, Math Education, Education, or related field
  • Experience teaching mathematics in a middle or upper school setting
  • Strong understanding of curriculum design and implementation
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment
