Position Description (What you will do):

The Hockaday School seeks an enthusiastic and mission-driven Director of Summer at Hockaday to provide visionary leadership, strategic planning, and day-to-day management of Hockaday's comprehensive summer programs. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a dynamic portfolio of academic, enrichment, athletic, and specialty camps that align with Hockaday's mission and uphold its standards of excellence. The Director ensures a safe, inclusive, and engaging experience for all participants while driving innovation, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability. Reporting to the Director of Auxiliary Programs, this position is a 12-month position with part-time work September through May and full-time work June through August.

  • Design and oversee all facets of Summer at Hockaday, including day camps, specialty camps, and partnership programs.
  • Develop new offerings that expand program diversity, enhance participant experience, and appeal to a wide range of ages and interests.
  • Ensure all programs reflect Hockaday's mission, uphold brand standards, and promote a safe, nurturing, and fun environment.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through data analysis, surveys, and feedback to guide continuous growth and improvement.
  • Oversee daily operations of the summer programs, including scheduling, facilities usage, and logistics.
  • Manage registration, billing, and communication processes in coordination with the Director of Auxiliary Programs.
  • Coordinate with various departments, such as Security, Facilities, and Dining to ensure seamless program delivery.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise summer staff, including teachers, camp counselors, and support personnel.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture that supports the growth and development of all team members.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in summer program management, education, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful summer programs.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
