Saddle River Day School, a close community of learners, is looking for a full-time Second Grade Head Teacher to join our Lower School team in the fall of 2026.

Our teachers play a key role in curriculum design and work collaboratively with one another across departments to prepare a course of instruction that meets the social, emotional, and academic needs of each individual learner.

Responsibilities include:
- Collaborating to develop a curriculum that meets the social, emotional, and academic needs of students in the Second Grade
- Planning and implementing creative, hands-on learning experiences in literacy, mathematics, and other core subject areas
- Clearly and effectively communicating with families about their child’s academic, social and emotional growth and development
- Creating a warm and inviting classroom environment where each child feels valued as an individual
- Coordinating with the other Lower School teachers, learning specialists, and administrators to maintain consistency in the curriculum and support the needs of all learners
- Effectively managing student behavior to ensure an engaged classroom environment
- Effectively accommodating different learning styles in instruction
- Maintaining accurate attendance and records of student progress
- Monitoring student activities on school premises to ensure safety of every student in the classroom and school grounds
- Attending educational training and workshops for professional growth
- Thoughtfully integrating technology and current educational trends into the classroom
