Benchmark School is seeking a passionate and adaptable Music Teacher to join our community of educators dedicated to serving our neurodiverse students with learning differences in grades 1 through 8. The ideal candidate brings both a love of music and a flexible, student-centered approach to instruction and provides a balanced approach to music history, cultural context, performance, and composition.
Responsibilities:
Instruction
Collaborate with the Assistant Head of School to plan and deliver instruction aligned with Benchmark School's research-based principles that will provide a vertically aligned music curriculum.
Deliver engaging, differentiated music lessons that meet students where they are, adapting curriculum, materials, and pacing to accommodate a wide range of student abilities.
Integrate technology, rhythm instruments, singing, and movement into instruction.
Maintain an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
Partner with content-area teachers to design and implement Arts Integration lessons.
Serve as a resource for integrating music and the performing arts into broader curricular initiatives.
Student Support
Use music as a vehicle for building confidence, self-expression, and foundational academic skills.
Communication and Reporting
Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress
Prepare academic reports for all students.
Professional Responsibilities & Community
Attend staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and other events as required.

Requirements
Master's degree in Music Education or related field.
PA Music Teaching Certification or ability to obtain.
Experience working with students with learning differences.
Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
