Description

The Episcopal School of Baton Rouge seeks a Middle and Upper School Religious Studies Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year.

The Religious Studies Teacher is an integral part of the Middle and Upper Schools and the Religious Studies Department, whose members embrace the school’s whole-child educational philosophy and Episcopal Identity.

This is a cross-divisional position that includes teaching three sections of Upper School Religious Studies courses and two sections of Middle School Religious Studies courses.

This position is a ten-month full-time position with an annual renewal. The position begins on July 31st, 2026.

Episcopal School of Baton Rouge, a college preparatory educational community of approximately 950 students and approximately 170 professionals, includes grades PreK-3 through 12 that embraces the whole-child educational philosophy.

The Religious Studies Teacher will:

  • Teach Middle and Upper Religious Studies courses, including Biblical Studies and World Religions.
  • Foster an academic environment in which students gain critical thinking skills and are encouraged to explore and strengthen their own religious belief systems and traditions.

Requirements

  • Teach Middle and Upper School Religious Studies courses.
  • Foster an academic environment that encourages critical thinking and exploration of religious belief systems and traditions.
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with the school’s Episcopal Identity and whole-child educational philosophy.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Participate in departmental and school-wide meetings and professional development opportunities.
