Description

The Episcopal School of Baton Rouge seeks a creative and engaging Middle and Upper School Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year to work with 8th-grade and 9th-grade students.

The Middle and Upper School Science Teacher is an integral part of the Middle and Upper Schools and the Science Department, a team of educators that embraces the whole-child educational philosophy and seeks to help students develop the skills and knowledge to understand the world around them.

The Middle and Upper School Science Teacher will teach 8th-grade and 9th-grade Physical Science. This position is a ten-month full-time position with an annual renewal.

The position begins on July 31st and is renewed annually.

General Duties

  • Teach 8th-grade and 9th-grade Physical Science courses with a focus on helping students develop a strong conceptual understanding of the content, critical thinking, and analytical skills, as well as an understanding of science as a process.
  • Provide engaging and effective instruction that is student-centered, meets students where they are, and incorporates a variety of instructional methods with an emphasis on inquiry, hands-on learning, and technology integration.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Science Education or related field.
  • Teaching certification in Science Education.
  • Experience teaching Physical Science to 8th-grade and 9th-grade students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
