Fryeburg Academy, a 700-student day and boarding high school located in Western Maine/the Mount Washington Valley, seeks an art teacher beginning in the fall of 2026.
This position may be full time or part time, and involves teaching up to five classes in both Semester I and Semester II. The last three weeks of each school year are a stand-alone period called May Term in which teachers offer non-traditional classes focusing on experiential learning or using knowledge in new contexts; this teacher will also teach May Term classes.
Fryeburg Academy faculty have responsibilities connected with the school's boarding program and extracurricular offerings. The Academy seeks individuals who enjoy working with high school students in and out of the classroom and who wish to strengthen its community through a commitment to various roles.
Essential Job Functions
- Teach introductory through advanced portfolio art courses, which may include sculpture and ceramics for applicants with these skills; possibly also to include AP Drawing
- Serve as an advisor for a group of 10 -14 students (if full time)
- Serve on a dorm team (if full time)
