Charlotte Preparatory School is seeking a Director of Philanthropy to lead and expand a comprehensive fundraising and development program during an important period of growth and future planning.
The role will oversee annual giving, major gifts, donor stewardship, alumni engagement, and preparation for a future capital campaign while helping establish the systems, strategies, and infrastructure needed to support long-term sustainability.
Founded in 1971, Charlotte Prep is a Pre-K–8 independent school serving more than 400 students in a warm, relational, and values-centered environment focused on academic excellence, leadership development, and community.
The Director of Philanthropy will partner closely with the Head of School, Board of Trustees, faculty, and families to strengthen a culture of philanthropy and deepen community engagement.
Key responsibilities include developing fundraising strategy, leading donor cultivation and major gifts efforts, preparing for a future campaign, strengthening board engagement in philanthropy, building donor systems and pipeline management processes, and helping shape the long-term fundraising vision for the School.
The position also includes leadership of a small development team with the opportunity for future expansion.
The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in fundraising leadership, major gifts, campaign planning, and relationship management, along with strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to build trust across a close-knit school community.
