POSITION DESCRIPTION
For the 2026-2027 school year, this position will serve as a 5th- and 6th grade science teacher in the Middle School. Beginning in the second year, the role is expected to evolve into a 6th-grade core teaching position that includes science and an additional core academic subject, based on school needs and program development. This is a full-time exempt, 10-month position.

GENERAL DUTIES
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to provide individualized and small group instruction that align with the school’s mission and learning goals.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lectures, and discovery, to facilitate the development of higher-level thinking.
- Translate unit plans into learning experiences to best utilize available instructional time.
- Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports and report cards.
- Communicate with parents through conferences, phone calls, and e-mail to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program.
- Identify student needs and collaborate with other professional staff to assess and support students in addressing health, behavioral, and learning challenges.
- Supervise students during out-of-classroom activities during the school day, including recess, lunch, and breaks.
- Participate in grade-level, division, and full faculty meetings, and serve on school committees as needed.
