OVERVIEW

Charlotte Preparatory School, a PK-8 independent school in South Charlotte, seeks a Facilities Manager. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, the Facilities Manager is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and operational upkeep of school buildings, grounds, and facility systems to ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained campus environment.

This is a full-time, exempt, twelve-month position.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Campus Facilities Operations

  • Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, repair, and appearance of all school buildings, grounds, and campus systems, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-functioning campus environment.
  • Manage preventative maintenance programs and respond promptly to facility issues, coordinating repairs in a manner that minimizes disruption to school operations.
  • Ensure high standards of campus presentation and beautification.

Staff and Vendor Oversight

  • Supervise facilities and grounds personnel, including scheduling, training, and performance oversight, to ensure efficient daily operations.
  • Manage contracted janitorial services and third-party vendors, maintaining strong relationships to ensure quality, safety, and timely completion of work.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, building codes, and inspection requirements, including coordination of necessary repairs and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Experience in facilities management, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Ability to supervise and manage staff, including scheduling, training, and performance oversight.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with staff, students, and external vendors.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, building codes, and inspection requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to customer service and campus safety.
