Description

The Learning Support Specialist position is designed to advance the academic growth and overall development of students at Charlotte Preparatory School by providing responsive, research-informed support for diverse learning needs.

This role requires expertise in ADHD, executive functioning challenges, and learning differences in reading and mathematics.

The successful candidate demonstrates a deep understanding of child development and approaches each student with sensitivity to their unique learning profile.

This is a full-time, 10-month position that will begin effective August 2026.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with lead teachers, division head, and school psychologist/coordinator of Student Support Services to identify students in need of support or enrichment.
  • Assess and analyze student learning needs through formative assessments and review of educational testing reports to inform targeted instruction and differentiation.
  • Deliver differentiated instruction through small-group push-in and pull-out support models.
  • Provide remediation, extension, and enrichment activities utilizing core curriculum materials and supplemental resources as appropriate.
  • Manage the Student Referral process, which includes identifying targeted areas of need, setting measurable goals, implementing and monitoring interventions, and communicating progress with student support team members.

Requirements

  • Expertise in ADHD, executive functioning challenges, and learning differences in reading and mathematics.
  • Deep understanding of child development.
  • Ability to maintain a healthy learning environment that supports the Charlotte Preparatory School mission statement.
