Rye Country Day School has an anticipated opening for an Associate Director of College Counseling beginning in August 2026.

The school is a coeducational, PreK-12, college preparatory school located in Westchester County, New York, dedicated to providing students with an excellent education using both traditional and innovative approaches.

The Associate Director of College Counseling reports to the Director of College Counseling and will assist the college counseling team in educating and supporting students and their families through the college application process.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with the senior class of approximately 110 students and developing college counseling relationships with Upper School students in grades 9-11.
  • Writing personalized letters of recommendation for 30-35 students each year.
  • Advising and supporting students and families through the financial aid application process.
  • Organizing and leading meetings with students and families on specific topics related to the college application process.
  • Team teaching the College Counseling Office’s Junior Seminar curriculum to students.
  • Building relationships and maintaining strong professional ties with college admission professionals and college counseling colleagues.
  • Supporting the office in hosting over 125 admissions visitors every year.
  • Attending regional and national conferences, visiting colleges, and staying up-to-date on best practices in college counseling.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in college counseling or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of the college admissions process and the ability to provide thoughtful, nuanced, and individualized counseling to students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, and college admission professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and communication.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to adjust to changing circumstances and priorities.
