Job Summary
The Middle School Reading Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an appropriate instructional program in an independent K-12 school environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Teachers within a grade level and/or subject work as a team under the supervision of the Division Head. This position is eligible for full benefits.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience teaching Middle School literature and reading comprehension. The candidate will have experience in a variety of modes of teaching and be highly skilled at differentiated instruction.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Actively support the mission of The Fletcher School and its leadership in the execution of their role and responsibilities.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that are structured, multi-sensory, and targeted to individual learning styles in order to facilitate active learning and assist students in achieving their potential.
- Ensure that curriculum, lesson plans, and evaluations are in accordance with established school procedures and pedagogy.
- Collaborate with the grade-level team to achieve the optimum outcome for each student.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
- Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
- Teach remotely via an online platform if necessary.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the disciplinary systems of the School.
- Provide appropriate feedback and encouragement to students on their work.
- Monitor the progress of individual students and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.

Requirements- Master's degree in Education or related field.
- Teaching certification in Middle School Reading and Writing.
- 3+ years of experience teaching Middle School literature and reading comprehension.
- Experience with differentiated instruction and technology integration.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
