Description

The Seven Hills Lower School seeks a trained Learning Support Specialist for our Lotspeich Campus for the 2026-2027 school year.

In collaboration with classroom teachers, the Learning Support Teacher works with students in Grades 3 through 5, individually, in small groups, and in-class support to ensure that students are progressing in accordance with our academic benchmarks.

The successful candidate will have a B.A. in elementary education with a credential in learning support (an advanced degree is preferred), a thorough understanding of emergent and early academic development in both math and language arts, and significant experience in developing intervention plans. Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or other similar training and/or certification is preferred. Candidates must have previous experience.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provides academic support to lower school students (Grades 3-5)
  • Maintains a repertoire of effective teaching strategies for all types of learners
  • Curates and develops supplemental instructional material, including curriculum for teaching executive functioning skills
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers, sharing content, instructional knowledge, and resources
  • Has the ability to interpret educational, psychological, and academic assessments
  • Effectively discusses the philosophy and methodology of our support program with the larger community

Requirements

  • B.A. in elementary education with a credential in learning support (advanced degree preferred)
  • Thorough understanding of emergent and early academic development in math and language arts
  • Significant experience in developing intervention plans
  • Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or similar training and/or certification (preferred)
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Proven success supporting underrepresented student identities in the classroom
