Elementary School Teacher

Indian Mountain School (IMS) is seeking a full-time elementary school teacher. A full-time teacher at IMS is responsible for maintaining a positive and appropriate educational environment in their classroom and executing a program that meets the intellectual and emotional needs of each child. They should have experience teaching elementary-aged children. Responsive Classroom training will be advantageous as is experience using Project-Based Learning (PBL).

It is expected that the teacher will collaborate with other teachers, specialists, and Lower School Administrators to teach an engaging curriculum and to fulfill IMS’s mission of developing, in every child, their sense of compassion, honesty, and respect. It is expected that the teacher will engage with and contribute to an equity, inclusion, and belonging framework for instruction and assessment.

Elementary Teacher Role Responsibilities:

• Provide classroom education to the students of the Lower School
• Report on progress and development of each student at designated reported periods

Other duties include but are not limited to:

• Attending all professional development days and completing assigned trainings by deadlines as designated
• Regularly attending weekly faculty meetings
• Completing student progress reports by the designated deadline
• Holding student progress conferences with parents as designated
• Fulfilling supervision duty as assigned by the Head of LS
• Completing classroom newsletter by designated deadline
• Transporting students to and from school and after school activities (PSL license)

• Experience teaching elementary-aged children
• Responsive Classroom training
• Experience using Project-Based Learning (PBL)
• Ability to collaborate with other teachers and specialists
