Description

Saddle River Day School is seeking a full-time English teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This position will teach English classes at the Middle and Upper School level (primarily for 6th and 9th grade), as well as serve as an advisor to a small group of students.

Key responsibilities for this position are:

  • Teach 5 sections of English courses (primarily for 6th and 9th grade)
  • Serve as an advisor to a group of students, providing guidance and support in their academic and personal development
  • Participate actively in the life of the school community beyond the classroom, including contributing to extracurricular programs, events, and committees

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related subject (advanced degree preferred)
  • Have experience teaching Middle School and/or Upper School students (other relevant experience will be considered)
  • Demonstrate a passion for writing, reading, research, and helping students grow as thinkers and communicators
  • Effectively be able to manage a classroom and maintain accurate records
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to design and implement a student-centered curriculum
  • Connect and work with families to ensure student success
  • Foster a student-centered environment which encourages intellectual risk-taking and innovation
  • Incorporate current educational trends and meaningful technology into classroom pedagogy

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $60,000 to $85,000 (final compensation will be determined based on experience and education)
