Stone Ridge is seeking an Assistant Head of Upper School to begin in July 2026.

Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland.

With over 780 students, and rooted in the Goals of Sacred Heart education, Stone Ridge inspires young women to lead and serve, through lives of purpose that integrate faith, intellect, community, social action, and personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.

The Upper School Assistant Head of Upper School is responsible for providing academic leadership in support of the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education, in alignment with best curriculum practices, and in keeping with the aims of the Network’s publication of Sophie’s Gift and will:

  • serve as a member of the Upper School Leadership Team and as a member of the Academic Leadership and Management team.
  • work closely with the Head of Upper School, Dean of Students, Department Chairs, the Librarian, and the faculty to ensure that the curriculum reflects the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education as best practices in technology and pedagogy.
  • coordinate progress reports with Upper School faculty
  • collaborates with the Head of Upper School with regards to the Upper School academic program.
  • engages in classroom observations in coordination with Head of Upper School and Academic Department Chairs.
  • participate in the Faculty Evaluation and Growth process as required.
  • oversee the Global Studies Certificate Program in Upper School and coordinate with the STEM Director regarding program alignment
  • oversee Sacred Heart Network Exchange Program.
  • oversee Honor Board.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in education, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of academic leadership and curriculum development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Experience with curriculum design and implementation.
  • Knowledge of best practices in technology and pedagogy.
