Job Description:

This position provides an educational environment that is safe, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate in which students have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. The teacher will design and implement a developmentally appropriate theatre curriculum for students in grades first through middle school, direct performances, and contribute to the community and culture of Berkeley Hall School. The ideal candidate is a passionate educator who understands the developmental needs of children and young adolescents and uses theatre as a vehicle for character development, community building and individual growth.

This position includes but is not limited to the following duties:

Instruction & Curriculum

  • Design and implement an engaging, developmentally appropriate theatre curriculum for students in grades 1-8.
    • Specialist classes with grades 1-5
    • Middle school elective curriculum in coordination with AHoS Middle School
  • Teach foundational and advanced theatre techniques to students in grades 1-8.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Theatre Education or related field
  • 3+ years of experience teaching theatre to students in grades 1-8
  • Strong understanding of child development and adolescent psychology
  • Ability to design and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators
