Science Faculty, Upper School

Begins August 2026

Job Summary: The Pembroke Hill School seeks a full-time physics instructor to join the Upper School Science Department for the 2026-27 school year. The ideal candidate should be a creative thinker who can innovate labs, develop curriculum, redesign courses, and collaborate effectively with colleagues. The successful candidate has a passion for teaching and learning and can convey this enthusiasm to students, parents and the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach four sections of upper school physics (junior level and AP)
  • Collaborate and work cooperatively with all department members to design engaging, quality lessons which include formative and summative assessments.
  • Establish a classroom environment conducive to student learning and achievement.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Manage and fulfill other duties as assigned.

Schedule: Teaching positions are based on the school year (August through May). During the school year, there are three school vacations: one week at Thanksgiving, two weeks in December, and two weeks in March plus holidays, personal and sick days.

Compensation: Compensation will be based on a competitive norm influenced by area and peer schools, using years of teaching experience and the highest completed degree. Transcripts and verification of employment will be required. Requirements

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Physics or related field
  • Teaching experience in upper school physics
