Job responsibilities and opportunities include:
- Ability to teach a range of high school history courses (ancient and early modern history, American history or government), etc.
- Creating substantive semester elective courses on subjects/topics of choice, based on teacher expertise and interest.
- Experienced with teaching the skills of history including writing, analysis, interpretation, and research.
- Providing students with explicit, highly engaging instruction through the use of research-based teaching strategies as both the means and the end of instruction.
- Preparing students for progressively more complex history courses.
- Working with a group of advisees and supporting the social-emotional needs of students.
- Serving on / leading committees.
- Working collaboratively within the department and the Upper School as a whole.
- Supervision duties.
- Leading / co-leading extracurricular activities.
