Description

The Middle School Spanish Teacher vacancy is a full-time position reporting directly to the Head of Middle School. Potomac is looking to fill this vacancy starting with the 2026-27 academic year. This position is responsible for teaching Spanish to children in grades 4-6.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach Spanish to children in grades 4-6.
  • Prepare lesson plans following curriculum guidelines and requirements.
  • Teach the assigned curriculum using different instructional resources.
  • Conduct classes almost exclusively in the target language.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities by integrating competencies and goals into the lesson plans.
  • Keep attendance records; manage student behavior in the classroom and maintain a positive educational environment for all students.
  • Correct assignments, administer tests, observe and evaluate students’ progress.
  • Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and other teacher training workshops.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Fluency in Spanish required.
  • A minimum of two years’ teaching experience at the Upper Elementary/Middle School level.
  • Skilled in writing and preparing lesson plans.
  • Ability to communicate, motivate and understand the students’ educational and emotional needs.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with other teachers, support staff, parents and members of the community.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to individual and cultural differences in students and utilize different teaching methods that will result in higher student achievement.

Requirements
