We seek a full time Health Teacher - Long Term Substitute for the 2026-2027 academic year with the background and experience to teach a comprehensive health curriculum. Candidates should have 3-5 years teaching experience. A Masters' degree is preferred.
These are characteristics of a successful health teacher:
- Knowledge of Health Education standards;
- Understanding of adolescent development 6th-12th grade;
- Ability to facilitate challenging, values-based and age appropriate discussions on various health topics such as reproductive health and sexuality, substance abuse, etc.;
- Knowledge of social and emotional learning programs;
- A growth mindset with a passion for your subject matter and an engaging learning environment;
- Compassion, patience, sense of humor, contextual emotional intelligence;
- Strong organizational and communication abilities;
- Agility, influence, negotiation, and strong judgment & decision-making skills;
- Ability to build relationships with multiple constituent groups - teachers, parents, students, and administrative teams;
- Experience with addressing student behavior;
- Creative and imaginative problem-solver.
