Middle School Math Teacher

St. Martin’s Episcopal School is seeking a culturally competent and responsive candidate to serve as a Middle School Math Teacher.

The position reports to the Middle School Principal and is responsible for creating a classroom and learning environment favorable to learning and personal growth of every student; establishing effective rapport with students and teachers; motivating students to develop skills attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for becoming a responsible citizen in accordance with each student’s ability; and establishing good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

The Middle School Math Teacher has the primary responsibility for classroom activities, as well as the management, organization, and discipline of the classroom. Under the direction of the Middle School Principal, the Middle School Math Teacher will:

• Teach 4 to 5 Middle School math classes and serve as a grade-level advisor.
• Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the division’s basic instructional and philosophical standards.
• Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to effectively and actively engage students.
• Demonstrate proficiency with technology and a willingness to integrate modern technology, media and other tools into classroom instruction.
• Seek regular field experience opportunities for students that extend the classroom into the broader community.
• Work collaboratively with the teaching team on behalf of students, and seek the ideas, feedback or advice of colleagues as an integral part of effective planning.
• Establish and maintain expectations of student behavior through relationship, positive reinforcement and support.
• Evaluate and document academic and social growth of students.

• Experience in teaching middle school math.
• Strong understanding of curriculum design and instructional strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and establish positive relationships with students and parents.
• Proficiency in technology, including educational software and online platforms.
