Description

Isidore Newman School seeks a scholarly, inspiring, intellectually curious, and mission-aligned Middle School science educator for the 2026-2027 academic year.

The ideal candidate will have meaningful experience designing and teaching a range of engaging and challenging science courses, with expertise in earth science and a strong background in Middle School instruction.

At Newman, the science classrooms are designed to be dynamic, engaging, student-centered spaces. Newman teachers challenge students to think critically, to ask big questions, and to develop the habits of mind required to be responsible citizens and to navigate an increasingly complex world.

A dedicated educator who values intellectual curiosity and thoughtful inquiry will thrive in Newman’s Science Department.

Middle School Science at Newman

Science teachers with expertise in earth science and/or physics-based sciences will be given priority. A student-centered approach to science, with a focus on inquiry-based learning and hands-on experiences, is at the heart of the Newman science program. Teachers adept in this type of classroom practice will be a good fit. Prior knowledge of design-thinking methodology is helpful for this role as well.

Newman’s Science educators work and teach in The Rupa and Tarun Jolly Science and Technology Building, a three-story facility opened in 2020 with nine state-of-the-art classrooms and four signature labs designed to inspire inquiry, experimentation, and innovation.

Requirements

  • Meaningful experience designing and teaching a range of engaging and challenging science courses.
