Rye Country Day School is seeking a full-time Upper School Latin Teacher beginning August 2026. Rye Country Day School is a coeducational, Prek-12, college preparatory school located in Westchester County, New York dedicated to providing students with an excellent education using both traditional and innovative approaches.

The specific responsibilities of the position include:
- Teach four sections of Upper School Latin (and potentially Greek).
- Collaborate with colleagues to continue to develop a dynamic curriculum that fosters mastery of and love for the Latin language and curiosity about the study of the ancient Classical world.
- Develop and implement lessons that consistently encourage student engagement and provide support for becoming curious and competent readers, critical thinkers, and analytical reasoners.
- Grade student assignments and provide timely, constructive feedback of their work.
- Regularly write reports that evaluate student performance and demonstrate knowledge of students’ experiences.
- Participate in faculty and department meetings, field trips, special activities, and rotational duties.
- Seek out and participate in professional growth opportunities embracing a growth mindset.
- Serve as advisor to a group of Upper School students.
Desired qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Classics required.
- 3-5 years of experience teaching in an Upper School setting (experience teaching at the Middle School level and/or experience teaching Ancient Greek preferred).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and adapt to changing circumstances.
