Position Summary

The Building and Grounds Technician performs skilled maintenance and repair work on machinery, building systems, and campus equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Applies strong technical judgment and works independently to diagnose issues, determine appropriate methods and procedures, and complete assignments to a high standard of quality.

Work assignments are generally provided electronically and may include sketches, diagrams, or technical specifications. Operates under general supervision from the Facilities Manager, Director of Campus Operations, and/or Chief Financial & Operations Officer, with autonomy in day-to-day task execution and problem-solving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs facilities activities according to the scheduled calendar of school activities and scheduled preventative maintenance requirements for the school year and summer projects. Reviews the daily schedule for last-minute changes with the facilities manager and/or the school director.
  • Maintain facilities and grounds, including cleaning, landscaping, snow removal, and routine repairs. Coordinate changes with the facilities manager or school director.
  • Report specialized maintenance needs to the facilities manager.
  • Repair equipment and furniture as directed. Assist other departments as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in facilities maintenance or a related field.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong technical judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
