Position Summary

We seek an enthusiastic, dynamic, and student-centered Upper School History and Social Science teacher who will cultivate students' intellectual curiosity and foster critical thinking and is passionate about inspiring students to engage with the complexities of history and social sciences. Preference will be given to candidates capable of teaching Economics.

The recent addition of The Studios – three academic and creative spaces offering virtual reality, podcasting, and XR film technology – make this an exciting time to join our humanities faculty.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in several of the following: Ancient & Non-Western World History, Modern World History, U.S. History, Government and/or Economics. (Economics is priority)
  • Help students develop writing and research skills.
  • Design and implement an engaging, comprehensive curriculum that aligns with the school's mission and values, emphasizing critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Integrate a variety of perspectives, primary sources, and relevant current events into lesson plans.
  • Establish an engaging, student-centered, discussion-driven, and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and active engagement.

Requirements

  • Teaching experience in Upper School History and Social Science
  • Ability to teach Economics
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with curriculum design and implementation
  • Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment
