Position Summary
Long-term Substitute Teacher (8-12 weeks) for AP Biology during the fall of 2026. The successful candidate will begin in mid-August 2026.
Essential Duties
- Teach four sections of AP Biology on a rotating schedule.
- Teach the concepts and laboratory techniques of biology, providing a rich and rewarding experience, stressing both content and lab skills.
- Establish an engaging and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and active engagement. We are a school that believes deeply in Mind, Brain, and Education science (MBE) practices, and thus our teachers are expected to utilize block periods in dynamic and engaging ways.
- Assist with supervising an in-school Biology club.
- Maintain a regular system of monitoring, assessment, record-keeping and reporting of student progress.
- Communicate and consult with parents over all aspects of their children’s education – academic, social and emotional.
- Contribute to the development and coordination of the department’s curriculum.
- Recognize health and safety are responsibilities of every employee, take responsible care of self and others, and comply with the school health and safety policies and any specific procedures/rules that might apply to this position.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
