Applicants should be flexible in their ability to teach five sections of Middle School Math, ranging from Math 6 through Algebra 1 and Geometry, and including grades 6–8. Middle School Math teachers at Seattle Academy emphasize conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving while fostering confidence, persistence, and curiosity in young learners. Instruction is student-centered and developmentally responsive, balancing academic rigor with strong relational support.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working with a diverse population of learners and skilled in supporting students across a range of mathematical readiness levels. Full-time faculty at Seattle Academy typically teach five classes and carry additional supervisory or advisory responsibilities as assigned.

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Teach five sections of Middle School math courses ranging from Math 6 through Algebra 1 and Geometry.
  • Design and deliver lessons aligned with curriculum standards.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure student success.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Mathematics Education or related field.
  • Teaching experience in Middle School Math, preferably in an independent school setting.
  • Ability to teach a range of math courses, including Math 6, Algebra 1, and Geometry.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic teaching environment.
